Health hazard in your water tank

Posted · Add Comment

Folks you may not know thats rats, squirrels, mice and birds often inhabit loft spaces and attics. One callout this week led to the discovery of significant rat activity in an attic. During the initial survey it was noticed that the cold water tank had no cover. When a torch was shone into the tank the remains of 2 very decomposed rats were found at the bottom of the tank. This was the same tank which fed the taps in the bathroom, which were used for bathing, teeth brushing etc.

To avoid the potential health risks caused by such a contamination you should ensure that your water tank is covered with a substantial solid cover. If you suspect you have pest activity in your attic do not ignore it. Doing so can result in further problems, chewing of cables, damage to property contamination by droppings.
